Business as Un-usual. Operations during the pandemic.

To our dear customers and supporters, I honestly hope that you and yours are well and safe. We have customers all over the country, and partners around the world, so it’s a near certainty that we’re going to know someone who has been severely affected by this. And that’s the hardest part, to realize that “everyone is going to know someone.”

So we want you to know that we are doing everything in our power to protect you, ourselves, and everyone we come in contact with.

Inventory: We have our latest production run of the Mark II in stock and ready to ship.  Though they are going fast!

Shipping: To reduce the amount of exposure to both ourselves and our friends at FedEx, we are shipping twice a week, typically Wednesday and Friday. All of us wear masks and gloves to protect each other. Ground shipping to most of the country is typically 3-4 days.

Surfaces: We are basing our procedures on this New England Journal of Medicine scientific study of the amount of time the virus can remain viable on various surfaces. The short story is:

Air: 3 hours (wear a mask!)
Copper: 4 hours
Cardboard: 24 hours
Stainless Steel: 2 days
Plastic: 3 days

The High Rollers were fabricated and shipped from China in September 2019 (3 months before the outbreak in Wuhan). Any virus (not just Covid) would have been eliminated in the month-long sea journey in the shipping container. The boxes have not been opened since then, so there is no risk of recent surface contamination of the internal contents.  The outside of the box? That’s a different story as it has been handled by many, many people on its way to you.  Please act accordingly (wash your hands!).

If you ordered customizations or extra parts, those items have been handled much more recently.  When we receive parts shipments, we leave them in our cardboard isolation area of the warehouse for at least 24 hours.  Plastic parts are wiped down with 91% isopropyl alcohol. We wear masks and gloves when working on your rig and packaging up your parts, but again, once shipped we don’t know who it has been in contact with.

Going Forward:  Despite what the TV or twitter tell us, this is still early days.  We’re just a few months into what will be a 1-2 year ordeal.  So we’re not going to let our guard down, this is just going to be the new way we work.  Someone told me, “Life as we know it is over.”  They didn’t say it about the pandemic, they told me that when I got married!  Similarly, the old way of doing things is over, and now we embrace a new way of life.

You, our customers, are what sustains us, and your enthusiasm and gratitude is what we live and breathe.  Thank you for all your encouragement and hilarious messages!  You are why we do this.

THANK YOU,

Matt
